Updates? (Life Update too)

Cloudflare was down again? That's crazy. Twice in a month. Anyway, moving past how Cloudflare is playing with the internet now, hmm, what else happened in the last couple of weeks? Uh — seems like OpenAI is freaking out over Google Gemini's crazy performance.

More importantly, RAM prices have skyrocketed. Gamers are pretty mad at AI companies for inflating RAM prices, and Micron has left the consumer RAM market. Weird times we live in. Micron was the go-to company for gamers/general users for getting RAM, and that's out of the picture.

Oh, and it's almost December 15, 2025 — deadline for uni applications. Been a stressful week — updating my CV, SOP, finalizing my paper, all that. I need this PhD no matter what. I've been dreaming about this for decades lol. I'm planning on working on Neuromorphic Systems. It's a very cool topic to work on, especially with the crazy efficiency of these systems.

I'll have an update on my admissions soon. A HUGE thanks to my profs (Prof. Amitava Mukherjee, Prof. Debayan Das, Prof. Gopakumar G, Prof. Adarsh Ganesan, and Dr. Arnab Raha). I wouldn't be here today without them.

Current State of LLMs

Seems like Yann LeCun is done with Meta and their huge emphasis on LLMs. There was some news of him leaving the company recently, which he confirmed. It's crazy how much these companies push LLMs into absolutely everything, whether it's necessary or not.

Meta trying to reach AGI with LLMs is a flawed approach, and don't take it from me. Take it from the man himself, Yann LeCun. He seems to be genuinely done with Meta and their business-oriented approach. I mean, if Llama 4 was any good, it wouldn't have been that bad, but oh well. Meta is falling behind in the AI race, with OpenAI and Google leading the way. Gemini 3 Pro is just absolutely crazy, with its sheer accuracy and performance. Even OpenAI's GPT-5.1 is falling behind Google. Crazy times we live in.
